I hope that all of you enjoyed the General RS meeting last night.
Since we have been traveling, I didn't get to see it as hoped last
night. I've scheduled it to be recorded today so I can watch it when
I get home. Thank goodness for technology!
Please remind your ward members that orders for the NOVEMBER Cannery
sessions are now being taken. At this point I have 3 orders for Nov 6
and 1 order for Nov 4, so we have plenty of room for everyone!
Last month we had 3 non-member men come to the Cannery for the first
time. They are SO EXCITED about the opportunity to store food for the
future that they are already scheduled to attend in October and
November also. One of them is buying a "Starter Kit" box for his
sister, so that she will have at least something in her home. One of
them works with Sprint and is liaison with Dept of Homeland Security.
He said that what he has been seeing cross his desk lately has
emphasized the fact that he must prepare his family for major
problems. He is thrilled to be able to go to the Cannery and
participate and reap the blessings received there.
Today we are visiting my in-laws in Miami, and my brother-in-law said
that in their Stake High Council meeting last month, it was reported
that 85% of the people who utilize the Cannery in their area are
NON-MEMBERS!!
What is happening with LDS members? Have we improved our food storage
status so much in each of our homes, that we do not have to go to the
Cannery to acquire items that will help sustain life in our family
units, in case there is any type of emergency arise - unemployment,
illness/injury, extended family crises, national crises, international
crises? Or, are we still at the same point about 6-7 years ago, when
a survey was taken of temple attending members when 85% of them
admitted that they had NO FOOD STORAGE in their homes. The similarity
of the percentages given years ago when they first started offering
the "1-month kits" and what is happening in Miami was a bit startling
for me.
NOW IS THE TIME FOR US TO TAKE INVENTORY OF OUR FOOD STORAGE. Now is
the time to start planning to give your families the gift of food for
the future - perhaps as a Christmas gift.... But the idea is - DO IT
NOW. Do not procrastinate the day of your repentance. This plea has
come from our prophets for decades.
Let's get started TODAY, and find ways to protect our families in the
future! The Cannery sessions dates are as follows for the rest of the
year:
Oct 7 - Thurs 10am - 2pm (can take some extra people who have not
already ordered - with small orders)
Oct 23 - Sat -- 2pm - 6pm (can take some extra people who have not
already ordered - with small orders)
Nov 4 - Thurs -- 10am - 2pm (orders due before Sept 30 @ 5pm)
Nov 6 - Sat -- 2pm - 6pm (orders due before Sept 30 @ 5pm)
Dec 2 - Thurs -- 10am - 2pm (orders may be taken any time before Oct 31 @ 5pm)
Have a wonderful Sabbath, and week!
Beckie
