Scouts and Scout Leaders,

In commemoration of the 100-year anniversary of the BSA,

Mark Allen from the Katy 2nd ward has put together an interesting Scouting centennial celebration event.

Mark has arranged for the participation of Mr. Sam Houston IV—a direct descendant of General Sam Houston—to help make this a memorable program during this special year in BSA history. A kickoff event, open to scouts at all levels—Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, and Venturers, has been scheduled for Sunday, May 23rd from 7:00 - 8:15 pm in the Katy Stake Center. Though this is an optional program, we invite all Katy Stake scouts and their leaders to attend the session to learn more about the BSA Texas Award program, and to hear from Mr. Sam Houston IV. This invitation is being extended to non-LDS scouting groups as well so we will be hosting many fine scouters from throughout the community.
